Man Arrested After Hitting Brother With Walking Stick
A Lawrence County man was jailed during the weekend after he allegedly struck his brother in the head with a walking stick during a domestic dispute.
David Elvis Whitehead, age 56, was arrested Saturday at his Byrd Road home.
Sheriff’s deputies dispatched to the home interviewed the forty-one year old victim. He reported that he and his brother, Whitehead, had become involved in a physical altercation.
During the struggle, he said his brother picked up a walking stick and struck him in the head. He said that he was able to push his brother to the ground then went into his bedroom to await the officers’ arrival.
Deputies noted that Whitehead appeared to be highly intoxicated at the time of his arrest. After they obtained statements from witnesses, deputies transported Whitehead to the Lawrence County Detention Center for incarceration.
